As time marches forward, one of the increasing relevant auto repair processes involves car sensor repair. Mesa, is seeing more and more modern vehicles on the road that thus requires an increasing level of tech savvy auto technicians to both diagnose and repair auto sensor problems.
The most important part of car sensor repairs is, of course in the diagnosis. While many auto repair shops might take a faulty sensor as an opportunity to recommend replacing actual mechanical parts to “figure out what the problem is” we know that our customers need their vehicles returned to them both quickly and as inexpensively as possible.
Luckily for drivers everywhere, car sensor repairs are not required often, and are usually quite inexpensive, it is important to remember that these little pieces of technology are relied on by your vehicle to keep everything running smooth, not to mention, one faulty sensor can trigger a check engine light, and may cause a failure at the emissions check station.
It is for this reason that we have taken the time to go into a little more depth about the types of sensors in your vehicle and explain a little bit about what they do.
Oxygen Sensor – This is one vehicle sensor that can cause you a headache at the emissions testing facility. If this sensor goes haywire, you can easily get turned away with a failed test, and are left scratching your head as to what went wrong. While there may be nothing else wrong with the vehicle, this one problem has the potential to make your life a little more difficult and stressful for a short time.
Detonation sensor – this sensor helps your vehicle keep track of the rate of combustion in your engine and if this fails, you can expect to hear the dreaded Engine Knock. A properly operating detonation sensor helps keep the timing of your engine uniform by slightly adjusting ignition timing to keep the engine running smoothly.
Mass Air Flow Sensor – simply put, this sensor alerts the control module of the vehicle as to how much air your vehicle is consuming per revolution of the engine. This is important because the car needs to know how much fuel to use for best performance. If this sensor fails, you can expect to see your average MPG plummet.
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor – This is exactly what it sounds like. By measuring the temperature of the engine coolant, we get an idea as to the temperature of the engine itself. Because engine overheats can cause massive failure, it is important to have this problem resolved as quickly as possible so you can get back to driving without the stress of a massive engine failure hanging over your head.
We invite you to contact us if you have any questions. Our staff is on hand to make sure that your needs are seen to, and you vehicle is taken care of as quickly and as inexpensively as possible without sacrificing quality.
