THE BRAKE SHOP: DRIVELINE AND DIFFERENTIAL

Many drivers have little or no knowledge when it comes to driveline and differential repair. Mesa has numerous auto repair shops, but you will find few with such qualified and professional technicians that we keep in our shop. Our secret is employing ASE certified technicians that have proven their ability to accurately diagnose and repair automotive issues.

But the real trick to keeping down the cost of driveline and differential repair is to catch the problem before it can cause serious damage. Because these components are directly responsible for translating the engine power to the wheels, these components are not only complicated, but absolutely necessary to your ability to drive.

It is for this reason that we have compiled a short list of things to watch for when it comes to the differential and driveline of your vehicle. Keeping a sharp eye out for these problems, and having them repaired quickly can seriously decrease the cost of repairs, and keep your vehicle running smoothly for a long time.

Interestingly enough, many of these signs are actually audible noises, so if you hear something out of the ordinary, be sure to pay close attention and report as much information as you can. This will help our technicians get closer to the root of the problem and get you back on the road faster.

Clunk Noise – if you notice a regular clunking noise as you are driving, it often indicates a broken ring or pinion gears

Rumble while turning – this kind of problem is usually due to bad wheel bearings. This is placing unnecessary strain on the both the wheels and the engine.

Vibration – a vibration that increases with speed is often an indication of worn out U-joints or a driveshaft that is out of balance

Whirring noise – if you hear a whirring noise beginning at about 20mph, it could be caused by work carrier bearings. This kind of noise has also been known to change a little while turning.

Whining noise – If you hear a high pitched note while accelerating, it could be a problem with your pinion bearings, and is only rarely caused by a bad pinion ring or gear.

Because the driveline and differential are mechanically complex, it is very important to make sure that these problems are resolved as quickly as possible. Delaying the repair can only cause more damage and increase the cost of getting you back on the road.

We understand that our customers are most interested in getting in and out in record time at a fair price. This is why we take every opportunity to help you catch these problems before they become both time consuming and expensive to fix. We invite you to contact us if you have any questions about your specific vehicle. Our staff is on hand to make sure that your questions are answered, and your issues resolved.
