THE BRAKE SHOP: CAR SAFETY INSPECTION
There are always places where you can take your car for general repairs, but you may want to be a little more selective when it comes to a car safety inspection. Mesa has its own set of specific concerns regarding vehicle safety inspections, for the most part, this is determined by our harsh summer climate which creates greater wear and tear on the safety features of your automobile. Our job is to make sure that your car is safe and reliable at all times and under all conditions. Here is a short list of things to to keep in mind.
Lubricants and Fluids – While we often don’t think of lubricants and fluids as important to the safety inspection, it is important to remember that the state will fail this portion of the inspection with no qualms so it important to make sure that all your fluids have been checked and will allow for an easy pass.
Windshield Wipers – Yes, old and worn windshield wipers can easily contribute to a failing score, especially here in a AZ where we rarely think about these things, it can be very easy to forget them.
Lighting – any sort of lighting problems can easily fail the entire inspection, this is for pretty obvious reasons, but even the lights that illuminate your license plate will be checked in a safety inspection, so even though for you its out of sight and out of mind, it is important.
Engine Related – This is where a lot of people have tons of questions, though it seems like a closed book with tons of mystery, it is really simply a matter of making sure that your vehicle will not break down or get in an accident for reasons that are completely avoidable. Points on this checklist consist of Hoses, Fans, The Horn, Mirrors, Belts, Air Filters and of course the Check Engine Light.
Tires – We all know how dangerous worn down tires are, so of course no check is complete without an examination of the tires. Badly worn or bald tires will constitute a fail, so make sure to keep this in mind.
Battery – this is about making sure that the battery in your vehicle is both secure and not volatile due to its age or abuse. This is pretty straightforward process and is easily done.
We know that this is a lot to take in, so we recommend simply letting us take care of the process for you. The process of preparing your vehicle for a safety inspection should always be left to a professional if you wish to minimize the possibility of failing. Let us take care of the big stuff, so you don’t have to!
