Nothing invokes frustration as quickly as the necessity for Catalytic Converter replacement. Phoenix, thankfully, has seen relatively few victims of theft of these expensive pieces of equipment, but unfortunately, this does not stop the slow degradation of time and use. In order to avoid Catalytic Converter Repair, we need to understand how to get the most use from your Catalytic Converter, we need to understand a little about what it does, how it works, and how it is most likely to fail.

Here at The Brake Shop, we want our customers to be as familiar as possible with what their vehicles need in order to be as reliable as possible. This is why take such great pleasure in helping our customers reach a greater understanding of how their vehicles work, and how to keep them in the greatest condition possible.

The catalytic converter in your vehicle is responsible for two functions; both of which lead to the same goals of increasing fuel economy and limiting vehicle emissions. The science behind this piece of equipment is one of the more interesting that occurs in your vehicle. It is accomplished by exposing unburned fuel to precious metals like platinum and palladium. These metals actually have a transformative effect on the unburned fuel and in some cases, allow the fuel to be partially reclaimed for use in the engine.

The issue with this process is of course that the more fuel is exposed to these metals, the faster they deteriorate. This means that if there is an issue with your fuel injection system, you can expect that your catalytic converter will quickly become spent, and will need to be replaced again. In order to avoid this costly calamity, it is very wise to make sure that your fuel system is working perfectly before installing a new catalytic converter.

At The Brake Shop, it is our mission to make sure that our customers get the most out of their vehicles for as long as possible. We understand that not everyone can be an expert in what their vehicle needs, but because even a little knowledge goes a long way, we remain dedicated to educating our customers on how to keep their vehicles in the best shape possible for as long as possible.

We invite you to contact us if you have any questions about the care and maintenance of your vehicle, our staff is on hand to make sure that whether you are a brand new face, or an established customer, you are treated with the same level of respect and kindness.
